Dunmanway Doings Journal VII on sale now

Cover of the Dunmanway Doing Volume 7 book. The cover contains the title of the journame and an image reproduced from a painting by James MacCarthy. The painting is Oil painting of Dunmanway town in early morning light, with low buildings along a street and hills behind.
2026 marks the 333rd anniversary of the founding of Dunmanway as a market town.

Dunmanway was officially established in 1693, when Sir Richard Cox acquired a royal charter from King William III with Letters Patent, giving Cox the right to hold regular markets and fairs. The 1693 charter spurred the transformation of the rural landscape into a major production centre for linen, flax and other industries which sustained the local economy.

This commemorative edition contains reflections of the past authored by members of our wide diaspora community as well as locals. It commemorates the people, the places and the memories in prose, poetry and song: the essence of what it means to call Dunmanway home.

Dunmanway Doings Vol. VII  titled The Homecoming Journal,  is now available to purchase from the Historical Association Office €20 directly and is available to be shipped to any destination.

Maidir linn: Croí Chiarraí Thiar a Chaomhnú

Since 2003, the Dunmanway Historical Association has been the guardian of our town’s rich heritage. We are dedicated to researching, collecting, and sharing the stories that define Dunmanway and its hinterland. From investigating rare archives to publishing local histories, our work ensures that the past remains a living part of our future – all guided by the principles of our Constitution.

Is é an fhís atá againn ná baile buan a bhunú do stair Dhomhnach Mán. Is acmhainn bhríomhar é ár n-ionad do thurasóirí, do thaighdeoirí, agus do scoileanna áitiúla, áit a mbíonn mic léinn ag teacht ar scéalta a sinsir go rialta. Tugaimid cuireadh daoibh ár mbailiúchán de léarscáileanna, de phóstaeir, agus de ghrianghraif a fhiosrú agus muid ag leanúint orainn ag taifeadadh oidhreacht Dhomhnach Mán.
